The Conception and Birth of Christ

about

First of all let me go on record and say, I am not Christian. This song is not meant to offend Christianity nor their detractors. I figured since the bible can be interpretted in many ways I could offer my own interpretation of the Nativity as the first track of my new Christmas Album. This track is 20 minutes long because it's divided in three acts.

Act 1: The Conception 00:00 - 03:53

As the story goes, Mary had a virgin birth. Meaning she didn't have sex to conceive Jesus. So I figured I'd start with a light-lighthearted structure depicting my view on what an immaculate conception would be like. I started with a high pitched sound depicting God impregnating Mary. Then with the rest of the instruments simulating the slow creation and growth of Jesus. Bass for Heartbeat, Brass for Lungs and Rhythmic for movement.

Act 2: The Agonizing Labour of The Virgin Mary 03:54 - 08:02

Whether you want to have kids or don't want to have kids, there is one thing everyone agrees on. Childbirth through natural means, is a long, painful agonizing process that could potentially risk life or death with the baby and mother. We have the fortunate luxury of modern medical technology, to perform complex, yet relatively safe procedures that ensure the survival and health of both the mother and the baby. Those back in Bethlehem during these days, have no such luxury. They don't even have Anaesthetic. That's bad enough. But as the story goes, Joseph and Mary didn't even have the luxury of an Inn room to have the baby in privacy. Nor a doctor. Just any hands that helped and a manger for shelter. And that was just for ordinary childbirth standards at the time. This woman was giving birth to something, someone with at the very least a huge fraction of God's power. I interpret that it was painful beyond the standards. So needless to say, they were screwed. The music in this act is meant to depict the tension, agony and pain Mary feels. The bass, representing her rapid heartbeat, the brass represent her screaming, the rhythmic, representing her panicked state and the bells representing the power she must be feeling flowing through her, both overwhelmingly beautiful and downright painful. All of which ending in the musical equivalent to a flatline. The reason I chose to end it that way is again, my own interpretation. If hypothetically, God and Jesus Christ exist, then I seriously doubt Mary survived that childbirth. I truly believe that Jesus first miracle was at birth. That his first act as the Son of God, was to save his mother. Not out of demonstration. Not out of proving anything. But because he loved his mother that much. Which leads into.

Act 3: Christ Is Born 08:02 - 20:21

I made this song represent the awe and eerieness of the Birth of Christ, this was a song that portrays him as beautiful and at the same time kinda scary. Due to how powerful he may be. The scary moments also foreshadow as a warning of what we know will come to him when he reaches 33.

Hopefully you all enjoy this song.

Also not gonna lie, the fact that the song ends in 20 minutes and 21 seconds is a happy accident. Considering December is the end of 2021.
